9am – 12.30pm | UC Berkeley Laboratory Tour. The UC Berkeley Nuclear Engineering Department is Located in Etcheverry Hall, 2505 Hearst Ave, Berkeley, CA 94709

Entire tour meeting point: 9am, in front of Banatao Auditorium, Sutardja Dai Hall CITRIS, UC Berkeley, 2594 Hearst Ave, Berkeley, CA 94720.

  • 9am-9.30am. UC Berkeley Brief Campus Walking Tour. Meeting point: 9am in front of Banatao Auditorium.
  • 9.30am-12pm. UC Berkeley Nuclear Engineering Laboratory Tours. Meeting point: 9:30am in 3110 Etcheverry Hall.
  • 12pm-12.30pm. UC Berkeley Campanile visit. Meeting point: 12:00pm at the Campanile.

Please wear closed-toed shoes in order to be able to access the laboratories. These tours are designed as walking tours. When you pick up your badge, please discuss mobility constraints or accommodations that would help make your tour a better experience.

2pm – 5.30pm | Kairos Power Tour. Kairos Power is Located at 707 W Tower Ave Suite A, Alameda, CA 94501.

Tour meeting point: 2pm at 707 W Tower Ave, Alameda, CA.

Transportation:

  • Scenic route: Bart and Ferry.
    • Take Bart from Downtown Berkeley to Embarcadero in San Francisco. The ride takes 23 minutes. Use your Clipper Card to pay your ticket.
    • Take the Seaplane Ferry from the Ferry Building in San Francisco to Alameda Seaplane Ferry Terminal. See schedule here. The Ferry Building has many options for food and finding local gifts. On the ferry ride, you will have a spectacular view of San Francisco, the Golden Gate and Bay Bridge, and the Bay, including Alcatraz Island and Treasure Island. 1pm is the last ferry you can catch you arrive on time; arrive early at the Ferry Building, to find your terminal and board your ferry on time. The ride takes 20 minutes. Use your Clipper Card to pay your ticket.
    • Walk from the Ferry Terminal to Kairos Power, 707 W Tower Ave. If you arrive with the 1.20pm Ferry, you will have time for a quick bite to eat at the restaurant and food trucks immediately adjacent to the Kairos Power building.
  • Quickest public transportation route:
    • Take Bart from Downtown Berkeley to 12th St Oakland. The ride takes 11 minutes.
    • Take Uber or Lyft to Kairos Power (3 miles, under 10 minutes, typically under $20).
  • Quickest route: Uber or Lyft (10 miles, about 30 minutes)
    • Optional: If you wish to share a ride with other conference participants, meet at 1pm in front of Sutardja Dai Hall located 2594 Hearst Ave, Berkeley (conference venue). An Uber ride can fit up to 4 passengers (typically $35); an Uber XL ride can fit up to 6 passengers (typically $50).
